I just came from a Lexus IS300, which is about the same price range as the G35. Keep in mind I've only had my G for a couple of weeks now. It's hard to compare, as these are two totally different cars. Even though the IS300 is an entry level Lexus, the interior did have a more "refined" build quality. Very little squeaks and rattles even at 30K miles. My G has lots of squeaks and rattles, new. Just turn up the volume, I suppose. Perhaps it will be improved in the next model year. All I can say is that my friend has had his G20 for years and it's been low maintenance and another friend swears at this bimmer every couple of weeks. In the long run, I suspect the the G35 will hold up well.
